Welcome to KiDZSPOT Ornella

Quick Links

Ornella is a niche service for toddlers and pre-schoolers with long day care hours. We are an owner-operated service that has smaller class sizes in a home-like setting so our children get the attention they need.

Located right behind Glendenning Public School, KiDZSPOT has been in the local area for many years. In fact, 49% of our enrolments come from referrals and returning parents, which is testament to the quality of the our service.

Come and see us in action, come and see our difference.

At KiDZSPOT, we have our own framework for child safety. Underpinned by the 10 Child Safe Standards, we use the KiDZSPOT Child Safe Scheme as a roadmap to ensure our children are protected while they're in our care.

There are many strategies we implement to minimise the risk of harm to  children; these are the highlights of the main practices implemented to ensure we keep pur children safe:

  • Recruitment

  • Physical contact

  • Nappy areas and toilets

  • Gifts and benefits

  • Out of hours contact

The first few weeks are very important for children, parents as well as the Centre. We ask all our new parents to give it some time to get to know each other so, together, we can create a sense of familiarity and trust.

Some children adapt to a new environment quite quickly; others need more time. There is no right or wrong timing; a child's age is important as well as their personality, their home life, and whether it's their first time in care or if they have moved from another centre.

The first day is particularly important. We know it can be hard to walk away from your baby on that first day but we do encourage parents to be prepared for a quick drop off so we can start the bonding process with your child and relieve the stress and anguish that can often be caused when a parent finds it difficult to leave.

After the first day, during those first few weeks, we invite new parents to join us for a Stay & Play day at Ornella so you can spend some time with your child as you both become acquainted to the new environment.

It's all a part of managing a smooth transition.

  • at the start of each week, we ask parents to bring a clean fitted cot sheet and blanket for nap time (for health and hygiene reasons, our children only sleep in their own bedding)

If your child needs it
  • a comfort toy

  • a dummy

  • any medication your child uses (medications are managed in line with health and safety policy and procedures)

Clothing

Comfort first! Please dress your children in comfortable clothing that is suitable for the weather as well as running, climbing, jumping, and playing with weird and wonderful things. Play can get messy so please pack a spare set of clothing as well. If there's anything else we need, your Centre will let you know.
