Should I enrol my child in childcare?Absolutely. Education shouldn’t start at school because learning doesn’t start at school. There are many reasons that are supported by research to explain why children should engage in a professional learning environment before the age of 5. Here are just some of them: We know that children start to learn before they are born. At an early learning centre, your child is exposed to diverse learning experiences that they would not be able to experience at home Early childhood centres provide a strong foundation for social and emotional skill development as children learn by interacting with other children Early childhood education prepares children for school. It teaches them core academic skills, such as literacy and numeracy. Early childhood education is comprehensive; it covers all key aspects of a child’s growth, including physical, motor skill, language, social and cognitive development And, by doing so, it gives all children equal opportunity to succeed at school and the years that follow.

When is the best time to enrol my child? You can enrol your child up to a year before the commencement date. It’s best to come in for a visit as soon as possible so we can get to know you and your child, discuss your enrolment, and secure your place.

What do I need to pack for my child?Childcare centres are messy, active, dynamic places with plenty going on all the time. There are a few must-haves that every child needs to bring every day so they're well equipped for a day of action. The musts for every child: a bag that is suitable for childcare/pre-school a sun safe hat which covers the face, neck and ears a few changes of clothes with underwear, socks, pants and a top a fitted cot sheet and blanket for nap time (so the children don't have to share their bedding) a drink bottle (children take their bottles home every day for a good wash and refill) If your child needs it: 2 bibs a comfort item, such as a toy a dummy any medication your child needs (medications are managed in line with our policies and procedures to ensure your child’s utmost health and safety)

What will the first few weeks be like? The first few weeks are very important. They're important for you, your child and for us because we’re all getting to know each other. Some children adapt to a new environment quite quickly while others need a bit more time. Age can be a factor and whether a child has been at another centre before can also play a part. Regardless of your circumstances, the first few weeks are about ensuring your child feels comfortable and safe in their new environment, so everything we do will focus on minimising their stress, building bonds and slowly introducing new routines. We need to work together to make the transition as smooth as possible. For more information, click 🐹
